A child’s occupation
is play!
Playing allows children to develop their social skills and fine motor coordination.
A child’s occupation
is learning!
School and learning is a major component of childhood. Success in a school setting requires an organized sensory system, sustained attention, visual motor integration, and more.
A child’s occupation is self-care!
Learning to dress, wash hands and body, self-feed, and brush teeth are some of the earliest self-care tasks children become independent with.
How to tell if your child might benefit from occupational therapy
Difficulty with handwriting | Seems clumsier than other children
Emotional regulation challenges | Difficulty with transitions
Picky eating | Delays in self-care | Easily overstimulated
Appears constantly on the go or fidgety | Has difficulty in social interactions
Avoids certain textures | Frequent meltdowns
